March Home Organization Challenge

Let’s get ready for spring with a whole house reset. This is a slow and steady organization challenge for the whole month.

Starting with the fridge/ freezer. This may seem like a random place to start but we put groceries in it every week and go in it multiple times a day therefore giving us the reminder of how good it feels to be organized.

Each week thereafter highlights certain rooms and can be broken down into segments that work for your home. Weeks start with what is usually the hardest task in each room on the weekends and then spread out small tasks through the week to really have our whole home clutter free.

Week One: The kitchen. We start with the fridge and freezer on Saturday. Sunday is the pantry or whatever cabinets you use to store food. During the week we tackle different drawers. Depending on the amount of time you have different nights pick accordingly.

Week Two bedrooms: It can be as simple as cleaning out one nightstand drawer one day and a dresser drawer the next. If your guest rooms aren’t as cluttered they may be a quick weeknight task as well. The weekend will be saved for the big closet haul we all need in time for spring. Get rid of all that doesn’t serve you anymore and make space for all the new that’s coming your way.

Week Three Bathrooms: These may only take you the weekend if that’s the case skip forward to the next week and add in your bonus room work during this week as well. If your bathrooms are a project start with the linen closets first. Then do the cabinet drawers during the week.

Week Four Bonus Rooms: This would be play spaces/ offices/ dinning rooms and I’m going to loop in the basement and garage into this week too as we have an extra weekend and a day in this week. Think of hallway closets as well. The amount of work for this week may be a lot or a little depending on your home and organization level so can be broken up in a few different ways. You could designate one weekend to the garage/ one to the basement or attic if you have one and break up the other rooms during the week. The goal here is to have the projects that will take the longest most effort on the weekend and then little projects during the week to keep the moment.

I hope this isn’t too hard to follow. Without knowing your exact home it’s hard to give an exact plan but I hope this gives you a loose plan to enter spring in an organized home. If you have any questions about your home I’m happy to help however I can!
